When an earthquake hit the coast of Chile early Saturday morning 27. February, MV “Star Juventas” was moored alongside berth in San Antonio in Chile unloading wheat.
The earthquake and the following tsunami caused the vessel to surge toward and off the berth causing all mooring ropes to break. None of our crew members were injured during the incident. The vessel suffered only minor damages and no harmful environmental impact was caused.
The vessel managed to manouver out from the port by own power, and is now navigating off the coast awaiting the development of the situation.
Our crew has done an excellent job to take care of themselves and the vessel in this situation.
