Dry cargo department
The dry cargo department consists of 12 brokers and 2 persons dealing with post-fixture, with focus on the vessel sizes "handysize" (10-40.000 dwt) and "handymax" (40-60.000 dwt).
Joachim Grieg is house-brokers for Grieg Star Shipping, covering both the specialised "open hatch" division and the conventional bulk carriers division. It is vital that the department is at all times updated with regards to the cargoes, vessels and contracts that circulate in the market. This information is the basis for the commercial decisions made by Grieg Star Shipping.
The dry cargo department also has a substantial portfolio of external customers. The competitive section offers broker services and expertise to their customers in competition with brokers all over the world. Among the customers on the competitive market are Ugland Bulk Transport, Seven Seas Carriers, Elkem Chartering, United Bulk Carriers,
TBS, Hydro Aluminium and Rio Tinto Group.
In addition, the project department handles ocean transport on behalf of Grieg Logistics and other close customers.
Sale and Purchase Department
The Sale and purchase department consists of 3 brokers handling
Sale and Purchase of both new and second hand vessels for Norwegian and international clients.
Both dry and wet-trading vessels are represented. With Bergen being the ‘chemical-tanker capital of the world’, handling this particular market segment, has become one of our specialities.
We are also very regularly engaged in recycling of tonnage with particular emphasize on Green Scrapping and are today one of
the leading Norwegian demolition brokers.
Gas Department
The Gas Department consists of five brokers and one operator, all with extensive experience in in the highly specialized LPG/NH3 and petrochemical gas shipping markets. The brokers work short/long term chartering, sales and purchase/newbuilding projects/combination deals. The staff works most major owners and charterers on a direct basis and has a good track record on financial related projects.
Tanker Department
The Tanker Department was established 1 May 2010. It consists today of only two brokers, but we are in the process of building up a new team with focus on both the CPP and the Chemical market.
Research and Projects
The Research and Projects department aims to support the different in-house departments in terms of analysis and specific projects. Fundamental and statistical analysis is used to assist and advise customers with reports and tailor-made consulting services. Services range from presentations, market forecasts and written reports to financial modeling and investment projects.
