Ethical guidelines
The Grieg Group has implemented common ethical guidelines. As part of an active, international business environment, the Grieg Group accepts a particular responsibility for ethical awareness. Our activities are closely connected to the community which we are a part of and we wish to broadcast what the Grieg Group is doing to raise ethical awareness among our employees.
The Group emphasises a high ethical standard. We acknowledge that the practice of an unambiguous and national “Code of Conduct” is challenging in a diverse business with international operation. Thus, our ethical guidelines are developed with the intention to be a tool to maintain a high ethical standard relative to Norwegian circumstances, and at the same time give clear guidance when our employees dilemmas are in conflict with other management- and business cultures.
The guidelines are based on simple principles of transparency and reporting. As an alternative to writing a complex set of detailed rules, we instruct our employees to document and report to superiors when facing corruption, facility payments and other situations that challenge ethical principles. This contributes to an internal discussion of difficult subjects and thus maintaining an ethical awareness.
The Grieg Shipping Group has in addition developed detailed rules for employees who face particularly challenging dilemmas concerning corruption.
